(DNTO) – To change the perception of ‘mostly working for others at home,’ domestic logistics enterprises are now striving to transform themselves to compete fairly with international ‘giants’ in terms of capacity, quality, service, and cost.”
Long Son International Port expects to become a major inland Logistics center of the Cai Mep – Ba Ria, Vung Tau area
The mark of ‘complete chain thinking’
In early 2024, Ba Ria – Vung Tau welcomes another special project – Long Son International Port. With a total area of 34 hectares and a wharf system with a length of 190m, the Port can currently receive ships of 20,000 DWT. In phase 2 (completed in June 2025) with a 355m long wharf system, the Port is expected to receive 50,000 DWT ships and 15 hectares of warehouse system to operate in 2023.
With the capacity of its logistics chain system, GLS aims to provide optimal, comprehensive domestic transportation services for customers.
Long Son International Port expects to become a major container and cargo transshipment center of the Cai Mep – Ba Ria, Vung Tau logistics area… At the same time, this successful “opening” is expected to contribute to bringing Ba Ria – Vung Tau becomes a logistics hub in the Southeast region.
What’s special is that behind this project is not a foreign name, but a domestic capacity in the field of logistics – Global Logistic Service Co.,LTD (GLS).
“In the past, domestic logistics businesses often had the reputation of “working at home”, but now, we are confident that we can compete with foreign partners right in the domestic market. With a convenient location, Long Son International Port not only helps customers save operating costs but also reduces maneuvering time and is safe for docking ships and loading and unloading goods for businesses”, Mr. Tran Thien, Chairman of GLS Company said.
Bright spot in the green ecosystem
In the context that building green supply chains is becoming a global trend, domestic logistics businesses understand that to become the priority choice of customers, there is no other way than to go green.
That is why GLS chose to go one step ahead in building Long Son International Port into an inland container port that fully meets the “green port” criteria: economical use of resources; environmental quality management; use energy economically; applying information technology and reducing emissions. Although according to regulations, it will not be until 2030 that the “green port” criteria will be required to be applied.
“Long Son International Port has become an important link in the process of forming GLS’s green logistics chain. Contributes greatly to saving and minimizing costs incurred in circulation and distribution activities; a bridge in moving goods to international markets, expanding business markets and increasing competitiveness for businesses on the business map of Vietnam and the region”, GLS leaders emphasized.
The logistics industry in Vietnam is welcoming new opportunities as the government and local authorities are paying special attention to it, viewing it as a “pillar of the economy.” GLS also sees this as a “spring breeze” to develop comprehensive logistics solutions, ranging from vehicle management and operation services; international delivery services, container and cargo storage services, domestic container ports, to logistics services that act as a bridge to bring Vietnamese products to the global market.
